Have Your Say on Twiggs Lane School Street Proposal in Marchwood

Hampshire County Council has launched a public engagement exercise on a proposed School Street for Twiggs Lane in Marchwood; a plan designed to improve safety and encourage active travel for children and families attending Marchwood Church of England Infant School and Twiggs Lane Pre-School.

The proposal forms part of the wider A326 Major Improvements Scheme, which aims to improve transport infrastructure along this key corridor. As part of the proposal, the northern section of Twiggs Lane would be closed to through traffic, and a new junction would be created between Hythe Road and the A326, to the south-west of the Pilgrim Inn.

What is a School Street?

A School Street is a road outside a school that is temporarily closed to motor traffic at school drop-off and pick-up times. The aim is to create a safer, cleaner, and more welcoming environment for families walking, cycling, or scooting to school.

Community Feedback Needed

Local support is vital for the success of any School Street scheme. Hampshire County Council is therefore encouraging residents, school families, and people who work or travel in the area to share their views before a planning application is submitted in early 2026.
